Water's Edge, Punta Gorda Florida

This campground used to be a KOA. Hurricane Charlie did a direct hit on the park and pretty much devastated it. Some
of the "snowbirds" who had stayed there over the years formed a cooperative and bought it. There is a large lake in the
center which used to be a sand mine in earlier times. Most of the spaces have been sold and fixed up with driveways
and landscaping. Many of the sites are owned by people from the North and they come down for varying amounts of
time. My brother and sister-in-law who were from Fort Myers and now from Franklin, NC purchased a lot here and
migrate back several times during the winter. They take their 5th wheel back in the spring, summer and fall, The
campground is very nice. We were lucky to be able to stay 3 nights in and unsold site. The regulars of the park have a
very nice society and are very friendly. The park seems to be isolated in the country, but actually is fairly close to
shopping and dining facilities.
This is our coach which is almost across from my brothers
This is my brothers 38 ft 5th wheel.
This was a very interesting Mercedes RV built for the narrow
streets of Europe. A German man and American girl were
touring the US in it
This is Dick, Vickie, and Hercules, their 5 pound Yorke. This is a
typical day for them.
Shot of the huge lake surrounded by campsites.
Another shot of the lake and clubhouse. We had a fish fry there
one night.
We made another trip here in August of 2007, but our camera had a dead battery. It was very hot and we went from air
conditioned motor home to pool. Temps were in the very high 90's. Ate at the restaurant at the marina. Was pretty
good. We went down and ate dinner with my aunt Gene and my cousin and cousin-in-law.
