Springdale. AR
We moved to Springdale, AR in 1971 when Lin started to work for Welch's Juice. We lived for the first 6 months in
an apartment on Henrietta St. and then moved into a house on what was then Oak Grove Rd (now 48th st.). The
Springdale are was blessed (or cursed depending on your perspective) with 3 men who developed themselves
into billionaires. Sam Walton, Don Tyson, and J.B. Hunt. The area went from less than 10,000 people to over
70,000 people. We had our little farm out in the country. Now the entire area is swamped with growth. On the
road leading from US 71 to our house was barren. Now there is a Waffle House. Wendy's, 4 large motels,
Convention Center, ETC. We bought our home for $32,000 and sold it after 4 years for $36,000. I thought I was
Donald Trump. It sold in 2007 for $680,000. Yikes. We met our old neighbors and spent the afternoon with them
and had dinner. Had a great tour of the area and the growth was amazing. My old Welch's plant is owed by
Clement Papus.

Now historic downtown, used to be only downtown
Famous AQ Chicken house. Haunt of Bill Clinton also.
Where our daughter took dancing lessons. She looked great as a trumpet flower
Leading to our old street. Nothing on any corner when we lived here, now
on I-640 and it's franchise row.
Old street. We could not even reconize it. There was nothing, not even an caution light. Population went from 7,000 to 75,000 due to mainly Wal-Mart,
Tyson's, and J. B. Hunt who all employ thousands.
Harvery Jones Medical Center. There were several billionaires in the
area, Sam Walton, Don Tyson, and J. B. Hunt all household names now
North West Arkansas Regional Medical Center. Nancy worked in the
old hospital.
Our "new" Old grocery. Mary Lynn went to school with several of the
Harp's girls.
