Quartzite, AZ is one of the Mecca's of RV'ing. I have wanted to come here for many years. The normal populations is
about 2,000 souls. During two big events (RV show and Gem show), they have over 1,000,000 people here. The
BLM has huge camping areas set aside for free camping up to 14 days. We used one of them. The camp ground
and the town were almost deserted. Most of the shops were closed and just a few die hards were left. We had a
wonderful time. We took the 4 X 4 truck way out into the desert and it was just wonderful. General Patton of WWII
fame trained his tank units in the desert here and we could see where he had rocks piled in lines for bivwac . They
have lasted this long.
