Ohio Amish Three
As part of out Amish lunch tour, we got a 3 1/2 hour guided tour of the Amish back country in a 15 passenger van. The guide had grown up Amish and
had left the culture about 5 years ago (She was in her 40's.). There were only 4 of us on the tour so we got a whole l lot of direct attentions. She was
extremely interesting and told us about the "real" Amish stuff rather than the touristesty stuff. We didn't take as many photos because she was so
interesting to talk to. There is a lot of Amish politics between the different sects and that was interesting. The Amish normally don't vote for national
elections but do vote in local elections. Many of the restrictions they have make little sense they admit and this is why they have so many different sects.
We stopped at an Amish leather shop and loaded up on some great handmade leather. We got a belt, wallet, door chime, and several coin purses.
Extremely well made and inexpensive. They fitted the belt to me right there. (32 inch of course.)
