Ohio Amish Four
We went to another Amish auction at Kidron, Ohio and it was extremely interesting. We attended the livestock auction
and it reminded me of attending them with my Grandfather in VA. Lots of interesting sights and sounds. We then went
to the famous Lehmans Hardware where the Amish buy their old style tools and appliances, Want a gas refrigerator..
they have a whole selection. Same thing on tools. My favorite hardware store in the world was in New Bern, NC. It
dropped today.
This is the sale barn.
There is a nest of alleyways below the sales arena. It is used for
people and also the animals. There are many two and 3 way gates
that divide it up.
You had to watch where you stepped down below.
Some of the stuff to be auctioned at the end in lots.
Our daughter Mary Lynn had a pony like this called "Mitch" after Nancy's
Mother who lived next door to the boy that gave it to her.
We got just one photo of the actual sale as the Amish don't like to have
their picture taken. Nancy did manage to get this one. There were about
300 people there mainly Amish who were both buying and selling. I
watched for about 15 minutes before Nancy came in. As soon as she got
there, she said loudly, "OH, she just pooped." Everybody, looked at us and
realized we must have been tourist.
