New Orleans 9th ward hurricane Katrina damage
We saw many destroyed and damaged area of the 9th ward and in the city itself. The 9th ward was located
close to the levees and suffered the flowing water damage as well as being as much as 12 feet below see level.
Strangely enough, we saw only a small percentage of homes that were redone in the 9th ward and not too many
being worked on. The homes being worked on were almost without fail being done by Mexican laborers. The
black residents were generally on the porches or street corners doing no much productive. This is an a actual
observation, not a racial remark. I believe that these were the same people who did not evacuate and waited on
the buses to come and take them to safety. I believe generations of government handouts have taken the spirit
away from them. This is very sad and a lesson is to be learned for the future.
This was a group of "projects" that could have house 1,000's of
families that was fenced off and abandoned. It was huge. Not sure
what the story was here.
People living under the bridges.
