Kentucky Horse Park
Our Trip of a Lifetime, was delayed from May 1st, until the first week in august due to our daughter have several
neck surgeries and Nancy's problem with liver enzymes cause we think by a drug interaction. We stopped at Perry,
GA, then on to Rome, Ga to see Nancy's sister. We then went to Sweetwater, TN and then Barea, KY. We had
covered this territory previously and took no photos. All of this was at a pretty lazy pace that we enjoy. We then went
to Lexington, KY and stayed at the campground of the Kentucky Horse Park. Very nice campground. The horse park
itself was I believe run by a foundation. There were over 600 horses training there while we visited in the off season.
That can swell to 1500 or so during events like the upcoming hunter/jumper show. They obviously love horses and it
shows. Lots of construction going on and the recession has not hit them for sure. They had a museum and lots of
different types of horses to show as well as the history of the horse in America and the role the horse played in the
building of our country.
On the way to Lexington.
Very interesting metal crosses we saw. These are two separate ones.
One of my long time friends from high school and college, Bill
Corbin family comes from this area. I stayed there with him in 1963.

My Dad was in the calvary in ROTC at the U of F in the 1930 and used
to tell us tales about the horses. They had different colored ribbons
woven in their manes to identify the biters and the kickers. Even when I
had horses myself, he would always walk behind then real close or real
far away so he wouldn't get kicked.
