Coos Bay, OR
On the way to Coos Bay, OR, we stopped at the Mystery Tree and got the shots of the two statues below. They
had a wonderful Indian museum that we like better than the Smthsonium in Washington. Unfortunately they
didn't allow photography inside. Oregon is know for it's rocky coast and we were not disappointed. We were
going to stay 2 nights there, but ended up staying 3 as it was very rainy and we needed some down time. Found
a great campsite (Midway Campground) out by the Coos River inlet. Did laundry and got all caught up on things
as well as getting rested. This retirement is rough. Had some great Seafood restaurants here too.
In 1851 the first English settlers landed by boat and after 2 weeks of
squabling with the Indians, ended up stranded on this rock fighting them off.
Nancy loved this pattern on the marker for fighting Rock
Fishing fleet at Coos Bay marina. They have 8 foot tides. Several of these were taken from our table when we had the Seafood Buffet.
