Our former Chamblee, Ga House
Nancy and I bought this house in September of 1968. Nancy actually signed the offer in the hospital while
having our daughter Mary Lynn who will turn 40 this year. We bought the house for a whopping $19,300
with a whopping $4,000 down. We sold it 5 year later for $26,500 and felt like Donald Trump. The nice
young present owner paid I believe $239,000 and indicated that the house was now worth about
$270,000. Had we kept just 2 of our houses we sold, we would have been a million dollars ahead. Such is
life. We drove by and were taking some exterior pictures and the owner came out ti ask us what we were
doing. We explained what we were doing and she very nicely invited us inside to see the house. The
house looked very similar but some big changes had been made. It came from a 2 1 1/2 with a den to a 3 2
with a different den made from our carport. It had been closed in. The neighborhood looked very nice and
Si,Similar to how it did when we were there. It had gone drought a down period about 15 years ago.

The front of the house looks just the same.
I put these bricks along the driveway to widen it and make an
additional parking space.
We had a carport and the present owner closed it in and made
a den from it. Looked very nice.
The sidewalk plants have been added and the ivy has been removed. It covered the entire walls all the
way around th house. I fought it the whole time we were there.
The dining room looked very nice. We had
shelves across the back wall that were removed.
The kitchen had bee redone. We had pine
cabinets. There were new counters.
Mew owner showed us around. As we were leaving the movers stuck his foot through the ceiling here. We had a 1 1/ 2 bath
and somebody closed off the door between and a closet and put in a second shower stall. The backyard looked similar with
the islands, but we had a row of pines across the back as a noise barrier.
Master bedroom looked similar. Looked much smaller than I remember.
Nancy had painted these doors in opposing colors in Mary Lynn's room. I
had eye hooks in the doorway to swing Mary Lynn and the holes were
still slightly visible there.
Door to the attic.
