Avenue of the Giants
Nancy had gone through the Avenue of the Giants when she was small with her family (the redwoods were
smaller then). We wanted to retrace their step. The Avenue of the Giants is just the old US 101 that was saved
when they built the new road. It was extremely impressive. We spent most of the day there. We had to take the
motor home thru the 4 miles of it to get to the welcome station to park. Very narrow road. We took some trails
and were very impressed with the whole redwood forest. After leaving, we went to Eureka where there was a
big gold rush. It was a very unique town with many old ornate Victorian homes. There was a large fishing fleet
there also. Had dinner at an old logging camp cook house. It very impressive except for the food.
Munchkin looking up at tree.
Forest floor loaded with greenery.
