I had been looking forward to visiting Newport since become a sailor many years ago. I still remember the America's
cup back to Ted Turner's exploits.. There were 1,000's of boats as well as some America's cup class racers around.
It was off season and the place was not busy at all. Parking was at a premium though. They have a 3 1/2 mile walking
tour of the mansions of the Vanderbilt's, Astor's and so forth. I could not complete the tour due to my foot injury, but we
did much of it and included the pictures below. These were all "cottages" not rel homes (if you can consider 70 rooms
a cottage. We stayed a Wally World and drove everywhere in the pickup. We had intended to go up to Providence,
but suspected with so man liberals up there, I might have trouble with the Confederate flag on my rear window.
